Machine Operator - 1st shift in Jackson, MI at Diverse Staffing

Job Description

Diverse Staffing is now accepting Screw Machine Operator applicants for immediate hire. This is a temp-to-hire position. In this job, you will work for our client at a facility in Jackson, MI. This position pays up to  $12/hr. and is a 1st shift position.  You will report to work between  6:00 AM and 3:30/4:30pm Monday Through Friday.


Our client for this position offers screw machine products and CNC machining services for aerospace, automotive and industrial clients.

A screw machine operator will be asked to use the parts washer and sort parts while performing Quality Assurance and Packing the finished product for shipment.  


The following is an example of some of the tasks you may be asked to perform daily working in this position: 

  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and cutting tools to be used.
  • Positions and secures specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and loads bar stock into feeding mechanism.
  • Installs and adjusts specified cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.
  • Positions and secures tools in tool holders.
  • Sets cutting speeds and feed rates.
  • Moves controls to cycle machine through settings, stopping machine and adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for operating factors such as timing, clearance between moving parts, and chip removal.
  • Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample workpiece to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
  • Replaces worn tools.
  • Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools.
  • Performs on-the-job training for operators as needed.
