Diverse Tech Staffing is seeking an experienced IT Automation Engineer for a position with a top echelon client in Indianapolis, IN.  This is a full-time, 1st shift position and you will be working between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing information technology (IT) process automation as part of continuous improvement projects; keeping up-to-date with latest developments in automation technology and applying these studies in improving productivity and promoting IT cost effectiveness; along with updating necessary documents; assisting in setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT automation technology. As Automation Engineer you will work with multiple areas of IT and be responsible for the design, testing, evaluation, implementation, and support of automation/orchestration tools and solutions. This role provides technical leadership for IT automated solutions using platform infrastructure, orchestration, and continuous delivery tools. 

Responsibilities you can expect in this position include:

• Provide technical leadership to other engineers, peer review scripts, runbooks, playbooks technical documentation, and project solutions for platform infrastructure 

• Create and manipulate web service API (Rest/SOAP) integrations with other tools 

• Write and translate PowerShell and Python scripts 

• Automate infrastructure tasks with on premise or off-premise cloud solutions 

• Implement changes with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise change management procedures 

• Innovate, re-define or enhance automation request to be possible solution, for positive customer experience, and value add for business as measured by service delivery 

• Collaborate with IT systems engineering, storage, network, application development, operations, and project management teams 

• Represent team, self or project with utmost respect for audience, clear communication, cooperative attitude 

• Lead technical support (Tier 3) for service automation problem solving 

• Automation tool selection, utilization, and support along with complex automation design and implementation

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information, Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience required 

• Experience with both Windows and Linux Environments 

• Comfortable learning new scripting languages for infrastructure as code development 

• Experience with formal source control systems and best practices with script reviews 

• Experience with implementation and utilization of orchestration, automation, and continuous integration / continuous delivery tools

• Experience with virtual server, Oracle and SQL databases, and SAN datacenter environment or concepts 

• Effectively communicate in written, virtual, and face to face with various levels of peers, leaders, or upper management 

• Self-driven leader who complete projects on time with little supervision and handles escalation appropriately 

• Ability to extract complex technical processes into easy to understand concepts 

• 5+ years of hands on experience in application and/or system engineering design, development, and implementation 

• 3+ years of proven technical leadership with multiple cross functional teams or projects 

• Powershell, Python scripting experience 

• SQL queries or use of SQL database for reporting 

Preferred Qualifications:  

• SOAP/RESTful API build and design experience 

• Infrastructure-as-code experience (example: Cloud Formation) 

• Configuration Management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) 

• Familiarity with VMware vRealize Tools (vRealize orchestrator, vSphere) 

• Cloud Management  

• AWS or Azure cloud PAAS / IAAS services experience 

• Interact and write web service APIs 

• AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, VPC Networking, EC2, ELB) 

• Continuous delivery/integration experience (CI/CD) 

• Active Directory, LDAP, understanding of DNS concepts 

• YAML, JSON, RUBY script writing
