Diverse Staffing is currently reviewing job seekers for a contract position with one of our customers, Eli Lilly and Company, a leading pharmaceutical company. Packaging Operators are needed for a work site in Larchwood, IA. Rates for these positions will start at $12.50 per hour, not to exceed $17.56per hour. You will report to work at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily; Monday through Friday. This is a temporary position that could last up to 18 months.

A Packaging Operator for our team on this assignment will be asked to support the manufacturing processes relative to the department/area in which they are assigned to for this customer.  

The following is an example of some of the tasks you will be responsible for in this position:

• Setup, operate, and clear packaging line equipment and/or ancillary support equipment to meet efficiency expectations.
• Replenish packaging materials like wrapping paper, plastic sheets, boxes, cartons, and labeling systems to include ink, glue, and paper. 
• Inspect in-process packaging to endure consistent quality and remove defective products and packaging material in the process. 
• Segregate finished packaged items from a machine that conforms to specification and separate rejected items. 
• Conduct inventory counts on finished and rejected packaged items. 
• Monitor packaging and filling operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products in accordance to standards. 
• Monitor the packaging production line to forestall potential bottlenecks, pile-ups, jams, glue not sticking properly or labels being stamped in the wrong location.
• Place daily emphasis on meeting production standards, achieving product quality standards and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment
• Know and follow cGMP practices, safe work habits, plant dress code, hygiene standards and housekeeping requirements unique to the work area and job classification.
• Perform light-duty maintenance work and general housekeeping in the area and assist maintenance or other team members in the area.

Job Requirements

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably packaging.
• Experience operating packaging equipment preferred.
• Basic mechanical and computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail.
• General understanding of cGMPS and Quality systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent relevant experience. 
• Ability to manipulate or transport objects that could weigh up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
• May be required to work in an area with exposure to potential allergens.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clean room environment may apply.
• Various shift schedules dependent on the requesting area.
• May require pre-placement assessments.
